ABOUT US

Siena is a 667-acre age-qualified community located within the master-planned community of Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Brief history of the Siena Computer Club
by
Gerry Guerra

In spring of 2000 a small paragraph appeared in the Siena Style asking for people interested in a computer club to attend a meeting at the community center. Six people showed up. Actually there were really five as one woman just came to support her husband.
We started by sending an e-mail to everyone in the Siena phonebook who showed an e-mail address inviting them to join the Siena Computer Club. Several people showed up and we started with election of officers. The first president was Bob Hunold, who developed our mission statement.
In 2001 George Roberts took over as president and started the Friday afternoon help sessions with Charlie Lichtenstein. Basic computer classes were also started and dues were established..
Charlie Lichtenstein was elected president in 2002. That was the first year we had a Computer Faire. Charlie also established a computer club board to help run the club.
2003 Henri Bryson became president and started an education committee to teach computer classes beyond the basics to Siena residents. Henri has also added a webmaster and our own web site.
As you can see each new president has contributed greatly to our club. We have come such a long way from the five people who showed up in 2000.
