Siena Computer Club

 Meeting Minutes

 

Siena Computer Club Meeting - March 3, 2010     7pm

 Nevada Camera Club has invited us to attend a special program meeting (an Evening with Sports Illustrated Photographer Peter Read Miller) Friday March 12, 2010 in the sunrise Hospital Auditorium,  3186 S. Maryland Parkway , Las jVegas 89109

 Door prizes next month will be awarded by numbers found on the Siena computer website {SienacomputerClub.com)  a tiny logo will be imbedded in the Club Style article or on the website to win a prize. you must be present to win.

 Classes for 2010

March 16 - “Creating a music CD using ITunes software” 10-12noon - Harold Spatz

March 23 - “How to buy and sell on E-bay” 10-12noon - Marian Eyer

April 13,”How to make a PowerPoint Presentation” 1-2:30 pm  - Larry Utterback

 

 We need more classes and instructors

One on One Instruction very successful - please fill out the form at the front desk, a qualified instructor will call and set time and sate

 The Photo Group - photo contest entries are due by March 28, 2010

On Thursday from 1:30-2:30 in the computer room , people will be there to help you with your photos and printing them. A minimal fee will be charged for ink and paper.

People will also be there on Wed.

 

MacUsers updates - 3 topics were covered at the meeting 1. online forums, 2. fun on the Mac, and 3. problems and solutions.

 

Jerry McElroy announced that he has 6 tickets left for this Saturday old car show. Some of the proceeds go to a fundraiser. It’s a good opportunity to take some photos for the contest and see some classic cars. The tickets are $20 each.

 

MAC PRESENTATION

George Roberts and Ken Mueller presented the Macintosh computer and showed us how it differs from the PC. They demonstrated how easy it is to load programs and how safe it is from virus attacks. They showed us an app called APPCLEANER which make sure there is nothing left after deleting a file. The OS Snow Leopard is ready for any new apps that are written in 64bit on a 2 duo Apple computer.

They demoed text substitution, “quick look”, Safari, calculator/converter, Dashboard, ILife, Iwork (could also download free “open Office” to substitute for MS Office, Bootcamp, and showed us several short cuts, etc.

 We had a drawing and prizes were given out.

Meeting adjourned at 8pm.
